LB 5: Nature Boy

 Nature Boy

My song of choice this week is Nature Boy, performed by Nat King Cole. The beginning of the song appealed to me, it felt like a movie opening. I seriously single-looped the song, and the song felt like a fairy tale to me, wonderful and mysterious, especially for the minute-by-minute changes in the orchestral playing. After my research, the song arranger used strings and flutes as instruments in the song to capture the "charming" atmosphere of the track. That's why I'm drawn to it. I took a closer look at the lyrics, "The greatest thing you'll ever learn. Is just to love and be loved in return" which is repeated at the end of the song to elevate the message. In the course of my research, I saw a comment, and I very much agree with it, that "the melody and lyrics of 'Nature Boy' are so otherworldly, that they have existed in time and from the moment it was written. out of place". This is undoubtedly a high rating for this song. Therefore, I like this song very much, I like the "fairy tale feeling" of its tune, the fascinating lyrics, and the addition of string instruments, the whole song is very rich.

  1. I love the lyrics of this song. Love songs or sad songs really stand out to me so this one did for sure. I really enjoy when I can listen to a song and its lyrics and just feel what the artist is saying.
I love the instruments in the background of this song. Some songs can be pretty boring when it is only a voice and accompaniment so when a song adds extra instruments it makes it so much better. It makes me feel like the writers were really trying to make the song original.

I agree that this song is like a fairytale. It is very mysterious but without the emotion of fear. I also love Nat "King" Cole as an artist. 3. The lyrics to this song are gorgeous. I love the last line repeated we all long to be loved and to be loved properly and show love properly is an amazing thing to learn. The slowly texture of this song is amazing and the instruments accompany the vocals and lyrics perfectly. Nat King Cole is definitely a legend I've heard so many of his songs not even knowing it was him. Definitely ahead of our time but enjoyable all the same.
